Science – Sizing Up the World

Mentor: Aruna Rajaram

In this module, students develop “scale intelligence” — the ability to judge whether large numbers make sense. Can you estimate how many leaves are on a tree? Does “500 tonnes” for a building sound reasonable? Is “300 billion litres of water a day” a sensible figure for India’s usage?

Across 5 sessions, students learn to question numbers instead of accepting them — whether from climate data, engineering specs, health statistics, or AI-generated answers.
