About the event

There are stories all around us.

All you need to do is look, listen, and then find some way to put them into words. And if you think about it, storytelling is as natural to us as breathing, which is why this quote by Jonathan Gottschall is so appealing to me:

“We are, as a species, addicted to story. Even when the body goes to sleep, the mind stays up all night, telling itself stories.”

So come along with me as we put on our storytelling glasses and explore what a story could be, how you can construct one, and what elements of storytelling can make a story successful.

We will explore how stories can arise from just looking at a blade of grass, using just 2 sentences, and even analyse how good storytelling skills can help you answer your question papers!

Inviting all curious minds aged 8 and above to join us.

About the Mentor:

Anusha Krishnan

I am a parent, scientist, manager, popular science writer, and storyteller. Although I do not practice storytelling as a job, I use it all the time - at work (while communicating with co-workers and editing documents), in my hobby (I write popular science stories for news sites), and at home (when I explain things to my daughters or just tell my family about my day). I firmly believe that a good grounding in storytelling helps one become a good communicator, and that good communication skills are essential for everything in life. I have a PhD in ecology and molecular biology from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, where I worked on the fascinating relationship between fig trees and their pollinator wasps. Currently, I work as an associate manager for a medico-marketing company, where I manage workflows and edit manuscripts written for journal publication.
