"I loved the entire thing because it helped me a ton with how to get maximum marks!" – Vrishaan Master
Over 150 students from grades 4 to 10 across India and the UAE joined Gifted World’s electrifying masterclass, Narrative Thinking to Crack Exams, led by Dr. Anusha Krishnan. The energy was contagious, with students eagerly participating, asking questions, and sharing their own learning experiences.
For 90 minutes, the virtual classroom buzzed with discussions on how to structure answers, boost memory, and impress examiners—all using the power of storytelling! By the end of the session, students left with practical strategies to ace their exams and newfound excitement for learning. Read this blog to get the gist of the masterclass, and also see what other learners thought about the session.
Why Narrative Thinking?
Students discovered that narrative thinking isn’t just about storytelling—it’s a secret weapon for learning and recall. Instead of cramming disconnected facts, structuring information like a story helps in both understanding and remembering concepts better.
🌟 “This session helped me a lot. I used to just cram everything into my answer and throw in a small drawing at the end. But now I know how to use space wisely!" – Sabilla Nadhifa Akram
Dr. Krishnan introduced the 5W1H framework—Who, What, Where, Why, When, and How—as a simple way to break down any exam question. Whether tackling a science concept, a history event, or a math problem, this framework helped students think logically and holistically.
📖 Example: For a climate change question, students were encouraged to explore:
✔️ Who is most affected?
✔️ What are the causes?
✔️ Where are the biggest impacts?
✔️ Why is this important?
✔️ When did it become a major issue?
✔️ How can we solve it?
By using this method, answers became clearer, structured, and more impactful!
Writing Answers That Impress Examiners
Did you know? Many students lose marks not because they don’t know the answer, but because they don’t present it well! Dr. Krishnan shared a golden rule:
💡 "Teachers look for excuses to cut marks. But if you add a bonus point, they’ll hesitate to take marks off!"
Students really appreciated Dr. Krishnan's practical tips on how to make exam answers stand out:
✅ Use Analogies – Relate new concepts to things you already know.
🖼️ Use Pictures & Diagrams – Save time and space!
“I never thought about using diagrams, but it will save time and make my answers neater!" – Ameya
✍️ Break Down Marks into Points – Write key points clearly instead of long, winding paragraphs.
📌 Handwriting & Keywords Matter – Examiners should instantly spot the important parts of your answer.
🌟 "I usually have a lot of things in mind about an answer, but I don’t know how to put them on paper. This session really helped me fix that!" – Zareen
Beyond Exams: A Lifelong Skill
The impact of this masterclass went beyond just upcoming exams—students walked away with a skill they can use for life. Whether for projects, presentations, or everyday learning, narrative thinking trains the brain to organize information better.
🌟 "I learned how to use storytelling to study instead of just cramming. This is going to help me in ALL subjects!" – Tanvi Dey
